OK. Im not hating. I just want an honest ...

You know how Gamespot rates games in specific categories like value, sound, graphics and gameplay and that makes an overall score?I also read that as times progress gamespot would rate games accordingly, like To Human got a 5.5 today beccause it is average, but 10 years ago it would be a 10/10.So my question is, how can any game on the Wii get a 9-10 in the graphics category compared to the PS3, PC and 360 graphics? Imean obviosly the wii has more cartoony graphics, but they refused to go HD! So i guess im jusxt asking how the game could score highly in the graphics compartment, if gamespot is supposed to stay true to the times.PS (Im not hating, i would love to buy a wii, a 360 is jsut my personal choice because i am an avid gamer =)OK. Im not hating. I just want an honest ...
They rate it based on the power of the platform it is on. It would be pointless to rate Wii graphics on the same level as the other consoles.OK. Im not hating. I just want an honest ...
They rate it based on the power of the platform it is on. It would be pointless to rate Wii graphics on the same level as the other consoles.
Exactly. It's the same reason why handhelds can still score highly in graphics and sound.
Each game is rated according to the standards of its platform.
Game spot dose not rate things right for example grand theft auto 4 got a 10-10 so they are saying that GTA4 is ''Perfect'' there is no perfect game if it was perfect then no one would hate, and no one would stop playing the game. Game spot simply rights based on popularity halo originally was a 5ihs score till it got popular witch is to say i would give it a 4.2 because i love the story but i hate the game play. a real scoring system would get read of the score and say '' this is a personal opinion we love it, hate it, it was ok, In two category's game play and story not graphics
GameSpot rates by the standard of the console not by comparing the other console. IMO, games at 10/10 should not exist. There's no perfect games. Also, you should not take GameSpot ratings as the absolute ratings especially when GameSpot gave a 10 at Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 on PS2. For me, after that, GameSpot ratings jumped the shark very bad.
Also, nowadays art direction counts as much if not more than just technical aspects. It's impossible to compare visuals technically now, for example Mario Galaxy looks a lot more delicious than your average PS3/360 games.
GameSpot rates by the standard of the console not by comparing the other console. Because the PS3 and 360 are HD 1080p consoles the expectations of games are extremely high so if a 360 game doesn't look as good as BioShock, The Darkness, Gears of War, etc. then it won't score high. And another thing, THE WII DOESN'T HAVE CARTOONY GRAPHICS AT ALL!! There are just a lot of shovelware developers that want to make games with kiddy graphics. That by no means reflects the system, but what developers want to make. The gamecube didn't have kiddy graphics, it just had kiddie developers. If you saw Wii's shovelware on the PS3 with a few graphically outstanding games then for sure everyone would say the PS3 had kiddie graphics too.
As far as the graphics go, they rate based on the platform. For a wii game to get a good graphics score at this point it needs to be perfecty polished. It will get no excuse for lack of hardware, but if the graphics are good enough it will pass.Ratings are a different story though. Has anyone noticed that when a game is rated on each site, if it is a big franchise you can guess often what the score will be before it comes out. And if its off the slightest fans revolt against the site and slam the review, not basing it on merits. It also seems like its largely part of the hype machine. So I think the major franchises like GTA, Halo, Super Smash Bros are hyped up to please fans of the series and are like paid advertising for the publishers for that last marketing push. Otherwise why are those games launched with reviews on the day they come out, but other games aren't reviewed for a while. Its all about you coming to the site and supporting it and getting money from the publishers for advertising.

Games are rated based on the standards of the platform it's on.If they were compared to every other system on the market, the PSP and DS would never have any high scoring games
IMO, games at 10/10 should not exist. There's no perfect games.
You're being too literal. These are career journalists who work in the industry every day, they realize there's no 'perfect' games. 10/10 simply means 'best of the best.'

Game ratings rate the games on that system they dont compare games over each other
I agree i dont think 10/10 means perfect i think its just revolutionary Pro skater deserved it because it is the skate game all other skating games are pretty much descendants of this game. and it was addictive at least me and my friends thought so

So that one day a game will come that deserves that tittle for have the ''best of every thing.'' witch is impossible based on current technology to do so also if what you state to be true that a game get 10 if it can not excel any more the the madden seres would have gotten that four years ago because its the same every time. Also you have to take in a count that the people that rated it a 10 weren't the customer rather a gamespot employee. I have gone through and looked at over 50 reviews before i bot it, And i thought it would be good but when me and some Friends played it we got tiered of the terrible dialog and game play. the engine was glitchy plot had to many holes. like i said in my last post i do not rate games by image Rather game play that runs smooth with the story line, that is it. further more i didn't intend this to be a rant on GTA4 because i believe games like GTA4 should be violently shoved down the makers throat till sines of actual talent poor from there eyes.I'm done talking about this lets just stay on the mane subject so this forum dose not get band when some one says a word that resembles butt and gamespot starts menstruating.
I'm sure the reviewer lowers his standards when rating Wii games. It's just like how a DS game can get acclaim for its graphics, even though the PSP looks a million times better.
Nintendo Power gave Brawl a 10 out of 10, but they mentioned in the review that 10/10 doesn't mean perfect, it means pretty close to perfect. Or something like that.
